16″ x 20″ – Acrylics [2011]
This is a painting of some of my favorite things about New Orleans. I was lucky enough to visit there five times pre-Katrina and think it is the most wonderful city in the United States! A generous friend made this possible, and she is toasting with a Bloody Mary near the bottom of the painting. My niece who loved the town, too, is shown behind a curtain, rounding a corner. She died six years ago at the age of 28. The goddess is wearing her Mardi Gras mask and sending blessings in the form of confetti over the town to prevent any more harm….. I love New Orleans

When looking at this painting enlarged, I especially liked the depictions of musicians and dancers, etc. It’s how I imagined New Orleans. The row of buildings on the left side were lovely, as well.
